"I'd Rather Be Herding"
|
My primary interest in any new puppy or dog was that herding instinct was intact. Kole was tested at eight weeks and went herding almost every week thereafter.

Kole meets Texas Longhorns |
I took him to Ohio the weekend after I got him and Kelly Malone, one of his herding instructors, has said a number of times that he is high-in-trial material and that he could have jaw-dropping performances. |
"When I heard her impression of him, I had to have him."

Kole Herding Sheep |
Kole was evaluated for Schutzhund at 13 weeks of age and passed with flying colors. He started retrieving in the water the first time he went in. He has started tracking, agility, obedience, rally obedience, and water rescue training besides his regular herding lessons. Herding is our focus—the rest we do when we can. |

Kole Schutzhund Evaluation
|
Kole’s breeder has shown him in conformation beginning with a Best of Breed Novice puppy win at the UKC Premier when he was just a little over 5 months of age. Then, in September she showed him at the Genetics Fundraiser in Fowlerville, Michigan and Kole took an AWSA major, a couple of reserve wins, and |

a couple Best Puppy and Best Opposite Sex puppy. The next month at the AWSA National, he took Best Puppy as well as a couple Reserves, and a Best of Opposite puppy win. In Greentown, he took a WSCC major, a reserve win, and a couple Best Puppy wins. Then, in his first UKC show as a Junior, he took his first major. |
Judges have been very complimentary of him. In Kole’s brief showing career so far, his mother, Pebbles, has often been picked Best of Breed and the judges smile at their consistency in choosing mother and son.
Kole was, and is, a lot of fun. He was an easy puppy and is an easy adolescent. He is calm around the house and just lets loose outdoors. When Cesar Millan, The Dog Whisperer, visited our home for a picnic after the August seminar in Michigan, he said: "Kole has a lot of drive and you need to keep him
challenged." Cesar wanted to know how long I'd had him, where I got him, and what I'd been doing with him. He listened intently. As he watched Kole swimming,
running, digging on the beach, carrying the chuck-it around and then trying to bury it in the sand, he also said, "He won't get bored." And neither will I :-).
