Kole has talent, learns quickly, and clearly loves to work. He loves to work so much, that, like Kyra, he will work for almost anyone I ask him to work for andthat’s a big plus. When I broke my arm, if he hadn’t been willing to herd and do agility with others, we would have been side-lined for eight weeks, instead, I got to watch his confidence grow and see how well he can work with expert handlers.
We have two herding instructors we work with. Kelly Malone in Ohio is the German Shepherd Dog breeder and trainer who won Herding Victrix with her Reva at the GSDCA National in 2006.

Kelly did the herding instinct evaluation with Kole’s litter, and her high praise of Kole’s ability was a strong factor in my decision to get this boy.
Kole earned his first leg toward his AHBA Herding Capability Test (HCT) at the AWSA 2006 National Specialty Show.
Kole’s other herding instructor, Heather Gorney, is from my area in Michigan. Heather breeds, trains, and runs Border Collies, but will work with other breeds. She really likes our white dogs and has enjoyed working with Kole. Heather took a 1st place with one of her Novice dogs at the Kentucky Blue Grass trial in 2006.

Kole earned his AHBA Herding Capability Test (HCT) title at the 2008 National Specialty Show. He also received his Tending Certificate at the first event of the newly formed Great Lakes Tending Club, established in September 2008.
